What is Mylan Fentanyl Patches

Mylan Fentanyl Patch is a skin patch that gradually delivers fentanyl through the skin into the bloodstream for 72 hours. The amount of fentanyl released per hour from each rectangular transparent patch is directly related to the surface area of the patch.
Mylan Fentanyl patch with intermediate dosage strengths of 37.5 mcg/hour, 62.5 mcg/hour, and 87.5 mcg/hour. It features a blueprint for better visibility. Each set contains 5 Patches/cartons. You can order multiple for example order 2 for 10 patches or 4 for 20 patches.

Indications of Fentanyl Patch:
Fentanyl Patch is for managing pain in patients who are opioid-tolerant, severe enough to need daily, around-the-clock long-term opioid treatment, where alternative treatment methods are not adequate.

Patients are considered opioid-tolerant:

• For at least one week or longer
• 30 mg oral oxycodone per day
• At least 60 mg morphine a day
• 25mcg fentanyl patches an hour
• 25 mg oral oxymorphone per day
• 8 mg oral hydromorphone per day
• An equianalgesic dose of another opioid
• 60 mg oral hydrocodone per day

Side effect of fentanyl patches

Common side effects of Duragesic include

• respiratory depression (decreased rate or depth of breathing),
• muscle rigidity,
• slow heart rate,
• nausea or vomiting,
• constipation,
• itching,
• redness at the application site,
• dry mouth,
• abdominal pain,
• loss of appetite,
• drowsiness,
• confusion,
• headache,
• dizziness,
• nervousness,
• hallucinations,
• anxiety,
• depression, and
• euphoria.

Serious side effects of Duragesic include

• hallucinations,
• anxiety,
• depression,
• respiratory depression,
• death (overdose),
• cardiac arrest,
• fainting,
• severe low blood pressure,
• seizures,
• slow heart rate,
• paralytic ileus,
• abuse, and
• withdrawal symptoms (nausea, diarrhea, coughing, tearing, nasal discharge, profuse sweating, twitching muscles, and yawning).

Drug interactions of Duragesic include other central nervous system depressants such as antipsychotics, anxiolytics, certain antihistamines, barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, skeletal muscle relaxants, which can increase the ability of Duragesic to depress breathing, depress the brain, sedate, and lower blood pressure.

• The use of Duragesic with amiodarone may result in slow heart rates.
• Cimetidine when used with Duragesic can cause confusion, disorientation, or seizures due to impairment in breathing and brain function.

The Duragesic transdermal system is not recommended for use during pregnancy; it may harm a fetus. Duragesic from the patch passes into breast milk and may cause undesirable side effects in a nursing infant. Breastfeeding is not recommended while using Fentanyl Patches
